I have always been interested in art and exploring different ways of expressing my ideas and experiences visually. Art making for me, is an exciting journey into the unknown, which is not always a comfortable process but a very rewarding one in the end.

The Johannesburg art Fair because of its variety of artists and artwork.

What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?
When people are attracted to a painting they would usually ask what it is about, seeing as every painting has its own story.  I would then tell them about what inspired me to paint it.  Usually it would be a location or texture that interested me, or even inspiration from another painting that I’ve seen recently.

What/ who inspired you to be an artist?
I have an aunt who is an artist and whose mother was also an artist.  I grew up with her paintings and drawings hanging in our house and also that of my grandmother.  Since I was young it fascinated me and I wished that I would be able to do the same thing.

Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any, the significance of this location is
I make my art in a special area in my home that I have put aside for this purpose.  It is in the general living area of the house.  So I can interact with the rest of the family while working.

What do you like most about being an artist?
Being able to express my feelings and ideas in a creative manner.

What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?
Enrolling for a BA in Visual Arts after its hard work but I wanted to push myself as much as I could creatively to thereby improve myself as an artist. Also becoming a mother for the first time this year and not giving up on my studies

What are your plans for the coming year?
Working towards my degree at Unisa, amongst others, I will be taking a course in Sculpture this coming year.
