What is your favourite film of all time?!
My favorite film of all time would be the Back to the Future series
What music are you currently listening to and why?
Currently I am listening to Martha Munizzi’s No Limits cd. It is really encouraging and sets a great mindset for the day
Which living artists do you most admire and why?
My 2 favorite SA artist are Willie Bester and Donovan Ward. They are both highly proficient both technically and conceptually
Which deceased artist do you most admire and why?
I really admire Joseph Beuys. He was a German conceptual artist with amazing insight into the true nature of art. He said this of art: “To make people free is the aim of art, therefore art for me is the science of freedom.”
Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?
I cant think of a particular exhibition, but I am generally drawn to exceptional creativity.
What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?
LOL ? Most people ask me, “What made you think of that”. My answer is that my work is born of whatever I am going through at that time. My work tends to be autobiographical in a rather unimposing way. They are indeed my visual testimonies.
What/ who inspired you to be an artist?
I’d have to say my parents. They believed in me way before I did.
Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any, the significance of this location Is.
I make my art at my studio which is at Good Hope Art Studios which is based at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town. Besides it being the most beautiful place to have a studio in Cape Town, the name rings true with my work. I want my work to inspire Good Hope.
What do you like most about being an artist?
The Freedom
What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?
In 2007 I was invited to exhibit with the top artists in South Africa. The exhibition was called “Is there still life”, and was curated by Prof. Michael Godby of UCT. I exhibited alongside the likes of Willie Bester, William Kentridge, Cecil Skotnes, Penny Siopis and the like.
What are your plans for the coming year?
Simply put… AWESOME-NESS
