Lives and works in Cape Town. Studied art as a student, and is largely self-taught. Degree in Interior Design from Cape Peninsula University.
What is your favorite film of all time?
Avatar in 3D. I love the fantasy world that they created. Lord of the Rings is also one of my favorites.
What music are you currently listening to and why?
I listen to different music depending on my mood. One of my favorite bands is Muse. They are very talented and I love the sound of their music.
Which living artists do you most admire and why?
Leonid Afremov. His work is very colourful and energetic. I love his technique and style of painting.
Which deceased artist do you most admire and why?
Leonardo da Vinci. He was an artist, but he was also a sculptor, architect, scientist, musician and inventor. He used his talents for a lot of things not just painting.
Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?
I went to an art exhibition in company gardens Cape Town last year. I was very inspired by all the work from different artists. There were some really great paintings to look at.
What is the question you get asked most frequently about your work and how do you answer it?
People always ask where I got the image/idea of what I painted. Answer depends on the painting, but I mostly get my inspiration from nature.
What/ who inspired you to be an artist?
I took art lessons from an artist during school and she was very inspiring. My parents also supported me all the way.
Can you tell us about where you make your art and what if any the significance of this location is?
I paint in my flat. I like to listen to music while painting so that I don’t get distracted.
What do you like most about being an artist?
That I can see the world in a different way.
What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?
Every time I struggle with a painting and I solve the problem I feel like I have achieved something.
What are your plans for the coming year?
Travelling, doing a photography course, and to spend more time painting.
