His eyes close and he is in a world self-created. His inner world outshines any beauty or pain he could experience with eyes open. In his inner world, the complex truth is simplified. One can imagine through the lines running across his face, that the man may not be able to face the depth of his own reflection should he open his eyes and join the world outside.
